Currently, #Boeing is experiencing one of the most serious #crises of its history. In fact, the air crash of two Boeing 737 Max in 2018 and 2019 disclosed the failures of these planes and some mistakes of Boeing. Furthermore, the current health crisis due to Covid-19 is seriously harming the whole airline industry.
In this new context, David Calhoun became the new CEO and President of Boeing on January 13, 2020, succeeding Dennis Muilenburg.
After David Calhoun graduated from college, he worked for General Electric for 26 years in the units of transportation and aircraft engines. In 2005 he became vice chairman of the company and member of the Board of Directors in General Electric.
In 2006, he left General Electric and joined Nielsen Holdings. In 2014 he became executive chairman of the company and also joined The Blackstone Group as a Senior Managing Director and head of portfolio operations. He also served as a member of Blackstone's management committee.
In 2009 Calhoun became a director at Boeing. In October 2019, after the two crashes of a Boeing 737 Max, he was named the chairman of Boeing, and on January 13, 2020, he was named CEO and President of The Boeing Company.
